Some art projects feel complicated until you start. Clay by Number—Cat breaks the design into clear steps using soft, air-dry clay and a simple number-matching system.
Each section of the board is labeled with a number that matches a clay color. Children press, roll, and place the clay into the correct spaces, building the picture one section at a time as the cat begins to take shape.
The clay is soft and lightweight, so it presses in easily and can be adjusted along the way. The numbered layout keeps things flowing without guesswork, so your child can focus on shaping and placing instead of figuring out what comes next.
As sections fill in, fine-motor control develops through pinching, rolling, and pressing. Following the numbers also strengthens attention to detail and sequencing as the image comes together step by step.
There is still room for small choices—smoothing edges, adding texture, or refining shapes for a cleaner finish.
Once complete, the clay air-dries into a colorful, slightly raised artwork that fits nicely on a shelf or desk.
Clay by Number—Cat turns a detailed design into something manageable, one small section at a time—and that steady progress is what keeps kids coming back to finish it.
Unbox and Set It Out – Lay out the cat board, clay, and tool. The numbered design shows exactly where each color goes, so there’s no guesswork.
Pick One Color – Choose a single numbered section to work on. Starting small keeps the project manageable and easy to return to.
Press and Shape – Match the numbers and press the clay into place. Rolling, pinching, and smoothing help the cat begin to take shape.
Pause and Walk Away – One section finished is plenty for a session.
Repeat and Build – Come back to a new color next time. Section by section, the full cat design comes together.
Set It Aside to Dry – Once all sections are complete, let the clay air-dry into a slightly raised finished piece.
This steady, one-section-at-a-time approach keeps the project moving without overwhelm—easy to start, easy to pause, and satisfying to finish.
