Spintronics Act 1
What if your student could see, hear, and feel electricity in action?
Spintronics introduces the fundamentals of electronics through a brilliantly engineered mechanical system that replaces wires and electrons with chains, gears, springs, and moving parts. Instead of reading about circuits in a textbook, your student builds them, watches them work, and discovers how electronic systems function through hands-on experimentation.
The adventure unfolds through a beautifully illustrated 50-page comic that follows Natalia, a master clockmaker who uncovers a mysterious mechanical technology. As your student works through the story and its challenges, he'll gradually discover concepts such as current, voltage, resistance, switches, capacitors, logic circuits, and energy storage.
What makes Spintronics so remarkable is its ability to make invisible concepts visible. Your student can hear current flow through the ammeter, feel resistance in the system, store energy, reverse direction, and observe how changes affect the entire circuit. Ideas that often seem abstract suddenly become tangible and intuitive.
The 67 challenges build progressively, introducing one concept at a time while encouraging experimentation, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Whether your student carefully follows the guided challenges or spends extra time designing and testing his own solutions, he'll gain a deeper understanding of how circuits work and why they behave the way they do.
Ideal for visual learners, hands-on thinkers, aspiring engineers, and curious tinkerers, Spintronics transforms electronics from a collection of symbols and equations into something your student can build, explore, and truly understand.
By the time he completes the final challenge, your student won't just know about circuits—he'll have experienced them.
How to Use Spintronics
- Begin by reading the comic-book guide's opening section together, or let your student read it independently. The story provides context for the challenges and memorably introduces new concepts.
- As new components are introduced, encourage your student to build each circuit and observe how it works. The chains, gears, switches, resistors, capacitors, and other mechanical parts make the concepts of electronics visible and easy to explore.
- Plan on completing 1–2 challenges per week. With 67 challenges in the course, this pace allows your student to progress steadily while giving new concepts time to sink in.
- Encourage experimentation. If a circuit doesn't work as expected, resist the urge to provide the solution immediately. Much of the learning happens when your student tests ideas, makes adjustments, and discovers why a particular design succeeds or fails.
- Work through the challenges in order. Each puzzle builds on previous concepts, gradually introducing topics such as current, voltage, resistance, capacitors, switches, and logic circuits.
- Don't be surprised if your student wants to spend extra time tinkering beyond the assigned challenges. Exploring different configurations and testing new ideas is part of what makes Spintronics such an effective learning tool.
- As your student progresses, he'll develop problem-solving skills, perseverance, and a practical understanding of electronics that goes far beyond memorizing definitions.
- By the final challenge, concepts that once seemed abstract will feel familiar because your student has built, tested, and experienced them firsthand.

A game-changer for electronics education
Martin
I graduated with a degree in Electronics Engineering a few years ago and I could not have imagined that something like this was even possible. It would have been so much easier to grasp fundamental electronics concepts if I had something like this in high-school or university! Even though these days I write software and I haven't really worked with circuits in years, I found myself glued to this Spintronics kit like a fly glued to a block of sugar! Going through the puzzle book feels like I'm playing an actual steampunk RPG and I'm levelling myself up as the story progresses, haha. I only started playing yesterday, but I can already tell I'm going to spend countless hours on Spintronics and that it's going to be so much fun!
