Embarking on a Challenge in Walls & Warriors

To embark upon a challenge in Walls & Warriors, thy teen must first select a battle—one of eighty, each more cunning than the last. The red knights (scoundrels, every one) and the noble blue knights (and their towers) are arranged as decreed by the chosen scroll. Once placed, they are fixed like oaths of honor.

The Real Test: Laying of Walls

Then begins the real test: the laying of walls. These must be fitted precisely within the carved grooves of the board, forming strongholds to keep the blue knights safe within and the red marauders without. Each wall must sit flush in its place—no leaning ramparts or crooked bastions allowed.

Protection and Strategy

A blue knight or tower is deemed protected only when encircled fully by wall—be it alone or alongside brethren. Their haven may be vast or barely a stone’s throw wide; the shape matters not, so long as it is secure. Red knights, on the other hand, must remain outside the safety of walls. Never may they be fully enclosed, though a partial wall is fair enough—so long as there remains an open path for their mischief.

Victory Conditions

When the walls are set and the knights safe, the battle is won. But only one arrangement leads to victory—one true defense among countless missteps. The solutions are kept in the back of the booklet for he who wishes to test his own might before peeking at the wisdom of the ancients.
